Solitude and silence are essential practices for living a spiritual life. But they are rarely easy to come by. A Getaway with God weekend offers an opportunity to remove ourselves from the demands and distractions of daily life for the valuable purpose of 'wasting time' with God. In a Getaway we withdraw into a setting that's conducive to seeking God--and ourselves--in silence.

I wonder how the idea of spending a weekend, in silence, in God's presence sounds to you. It might seem more delightful than a cold drink on a hot summer's day. Or perhaps it seems confronting or even scary, prompting thoughts like, "Do I even dare to spend extended hours alone with God? What will I do with myself in the silence? What might I hear? Or will I hear anything?" Don't let these things deter you for...

A Getaway with God includes some training, guided prayer times each morning and evening, a limited amount interaction with other participants, and the opportunity to receive spiritual guidance or prayer. All this in a lovely grace-filled setting with sufficient prompts and input to help you to get the most out of your time.

Especially for women

A Getaway with God is a women's retreat in a peaceful getaway place: a klooster in the rolling countryside of Limburg or a retreat centre in the more centrally located Gelderland. You will experience a spacious 48 hours, a gift to yourself of rest and restoration, and an opportunity to draw close to God and to listen to what he has to say to you. Ank Koopmans-Oosting or Joke Leijen join me, Elizabeth de Smaele, as your hosts and guides for this weekend.

What about the men? Ernst Haagsman (Navigators) has led stilteweekends for men since 1996. Skilled and experienced, we recommend Dutch speaking men to the weekends led by Ernst.
